The end of July/first part of August was the time for picking fruit from our ornamental thundercloud plum tree, a cultivated variety of the cherry plum native to Europe and Asia.
| These trees are used for their ornamental spring flowers and red/purple colored leaves. But they also produce small cherry size plums. |

| Being that the fruit is the same color as the tree's leaves it is not easily seen unless looked for and so it is often not noticed. Also due to it's small size and somewhat tart after taste most people do not do much with them. |
But now we are not most people! :)
So being told by the previous owner of our home that the tree grew fruit we eagerly watched and checked to see when it was ready for harvesting. And a very rewarding harvest it turned out to be!
